Amiwest 98 Update

AmiWest Update

Banquet Speaker Lineup Has Changed! Unfortunately, Jeff Schindler, General Manager of Amiga, Inc., who had been scheduled to be present at AmiWest and to speak at the banquet, will not be able to do so because of a scheduling conflict. However, Amiga, Inc.'s new Software Development director, Dr. Alan Havemose, will be speaking instead. Dr Havemose is responsible for directing the efforts towards the new Amiga OS.

The speaker lineup for the AmiWest buffet Banquet is now:

Carl Sassenrath, Amiga pioneer and developer of the REBOL language.
Petro Tyschtschenko, President of Amiga International, Inc.
Dr. Allan Havemose, Software Development director for Amiga, Inc.

Unfortunately the banquet is sold out. No more tickets are available, although some may become available the day of the show. Over 100 people will be attending the AmiWest banquet on Saturday evening, July 11.

ICOA Seminars Have Been Added

The ICOA seminars on Friday, July 10, have not been determined and added to the seminar list on our web page. This can be accessed directly at http://www.sacc.org/amiwest/seminar.html.

The good news is that they are all FREE. The bad news is that some of them are restricted to ICOA members and developers only.

Two IRC's from AmiWest!

Both the User Group Network (UGN) and Team Amiga will be present at AmiWest conducting IRC conferences during the show.

For the first time on any computer platform, Team AMIGA will bring to the Amiga user body a LIVE NEWS FEED direct from AmiWest98 in Sacramento, Ca. from Friday July 10th through Sunday July 12th. Information on the Team Amiga IRC can be found at

As the show progresses, live pictures taken during AmiWest, IRC logs as they are finished, links to RealAudio feeds, and IRC info for the show can be obtained from the AmiWest News Feed. This can be accessed at

There will also be links to the one or more web cams at the show.

The User Group Network (UGN) will be conducting on-line interviews of different companies that are exibiting at the AmiWest show during their IRC conference. UGN is asking the companies if they can provide a period of time (about 30 minutes to an hour) in which they can respond to the recent announcment made by Amiga, Inc. at the WOA show in London. These companies are also being asked to speak of their impressions of the show (and also push their products). You can access the UGN URL describing their IRC conference at

The User Group Network will also be conducting a seminar for all user group members attending the show. This seminar will be used to exchange information by User Groups and to explain what the User Group Network is.
